We missed seeing some of you at our Annual Meeting on Tuesday, September 29th.
It was a most educational evening. Our main speaker was Carrie Haggart from Out To Pasture Farm and Rescue. Her dedication to her animals was amazing. The Board of C.D.F. has made a donation and encourages other Clubs and members to do the same. State Representative Bryan Hurlburt discussed the progress we have made in making Connecticut dog owners and their concerns an important factor in their legislative decisions. We plan to participate in the “Meet the Legislators Program in late March/early April 2010. Be prepared to come and bring your dogs. As soon as we have the definite dates, we will put them on our web site (conndogfed.org). Our Lobbyist, David Evans, indicated that our new procedure for reviewing all proposed legislation has been successful. By reviewing the legislation at the time it is being proposed (rather than when a Hearing or Vote is called), we will be ready to react when face-to-face meetings are necessary. We have strengthened our ties with the National Animal Interest Alliance (N.A.I.A.) and the American Kennel Club’s Government Relations Department, so we will present a unified front.
You will be receiving information about our Match Show Judge and Steward Booklet, which is being issued this spring. We hope to have a full schedule of all Connecticut matches to minimize the chance of more than one match on the same day.
Please join us at our meetings in March and September at The 95 Gathering Place on Route 5 in Wallingford. It is one of the few places you can order off the menu (and get Roast Beef by ordering it a day in advance). Meeting dates are always posted on our web
Site – www.conndogfed.org.
We always welcome suggestions for speakers and discussion topics at our meetings.
Please feel free to contact me so that the Board can plan ahead to continue to present General Meetings which are both interesting and informative.
